Accelerated Reader (AR)
In Carnmoney Primary School, many of our pupils use the Accelerated reader app to develop their comprehension and decoding skills. Accelerated reader is a program provided by Renaissance Learning, that allows pupils to take quizzes on books they have read. If you would like to check any books at home, to see if they have an online quiz, look them up on arbookfind.co.uk.
If your child has an AR account, they will be taught how to use it in school, usually during their Primary 4 year. The pupils in our school love using this online learning tool and it has shown to enhance pupil engagement in learning, specifically reading. Unless otherwise advised by your child's teacher, we encourage pupils to wait until they are in school to take AR quizzes.
